When we created Silencio da Luz, we wished to offer help, support and information that is hard to find in Brazil. We have sought support to create this site and have found  material support from Sands – UK (Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Charity) United Kingdom, which kindly have authorized its translation into Portuguese. We also have found national and international researches that discuss the topic stillbirth and neonatal death.

The death of a baby is a devastating experience. We know that there are no two identical ways to go through the experience of losing a child near the date of birth. Persons are different and live this experience on their own way. There is no right or wrong way for you to go with your pain.

Sometimes parents worry about the fact that they feel strange. They begin to feel better when they know that other people had feelings similar to them, after losing their babies.

For a long time, the mourn after stillbirth, or baby who died soon after birth, was seen as a passing blue mood. Parents were told to forget what had happened, as if the baby’s death had not been happened. Today, after testimonies of parents who experienced the loss of a baby, one can say that the sadness can not be ignored, since the person who lost a son by birth is going through a grieving process.

Thinking and talking about your feelings are most helpful at this stage. You will never forget your baby, but time will pass, and you will remember him or her with less pain.

There are many things to be added to this site, but we hope it can be already useful to you.
